The approach from Pitt Street.
As the work progresses everything gets covered in fine limestone dust. At the end of every day comes a great cleaning-up.
Stone awaiting the chisel. It used to be quarried locally, and there is a chunk of Roman stone from nearby Painswick embedded halfway up the ouside west wall of the Cathedral. The mediaeval masons recycled it to repair a hole - the city used to be full of ruined Roman buildings - and it's still in better condition than some of the imported Victorian stuff. A mason
