Following the Siege of Gloucester, Edward Massie adopted a policy of harassment as he attempted to spread the influence of Gloucester. He began to seize towns, strongholds and garrisons for parliament. Despite arrears of £10,000 due to his garrison, Massie was never a man to sit back and wait for things to happen. |
