Lou studied in London and Gloucester. She teaches in neighbourhood centres, infecting all kinds of groups with a passion for art, and exhibits her work nationally. 'My work is a response to my everyday surroundings. I depict places and objects I am familiar with, the light, structure and character of the subjects. I aim to capture a sense of time and place, as well as referring to the cultural inheritance they bring.' I draw with charcoal, work with oil paints and make black and white monoprints.'
