The Guildhall Arts Centre, with its regular programme of films, plays, dance exhibitions, music and workshops is the hub of Gloucester's artistic life, but a relatively new arrival.

For years the New Olympus and Kings Barton theatres have been the venues for performances by the city's amateur drama groups.

Gloucester Leisure Centre (now GL1) has a 1000-seat auditorium.

The Regal cinema in Kings Square (now a pub) used to put on live bands; the Beatles played there in the 60s.
