Gloucester Guildhall, with its regular programme of films, plays, dance exhibitions, music and workshops is the hub of Gloucester's artistic life, but a relatively new arrival.

For years the New Olympus and Kings Barton theatres have been the venues for performances by the city's amateur drama groups.

Gloucester The Leisure Centre (now GL1) has a 1000-seat auditorium.

The Regal cinema in Kings Square (now a pub) used to put on live bands; the Beatles played there in the 60s.
