New Olympus

PicturedromeOpened as a cinema - Palmer's Picturedrome - in 1923 it became The Ritz in 1955 and closed in the 60s with Cliff Richard in 'The Young Ones'. Born again as the Mecca Bingo Hall, it was bought in 1984 by the Gloucester Operatic and Dramatic Society and reopened as a theatre .

As the home of the GODS, it also serves as a venue for the local community and has seen weddings, christenings, funerals and multicultural festivals as well as musicals and pantomime. Since 2001 it's started showing films again as well.
