Gloucester Festival

Started during World War 2 as Holidays At Home in Gloucester Park and developed into a huge programme of outdoor entertainment with a procession of floats round the town.

Shops, businesses and social clubs would vie with one another to produce the most elaborate displays, and highlights included the judging of the Miss Gloucester and Glamorous Grandmother competitions.

Now it brings performers from all over the world to fill the streets with colour, pyrotechnics and the sounds of carnival.
