Louise Spira of GANet writes:- Gloucester Artists' Network (GANet) is a collective of locally-based artists and makers who want to raise the profile of the arts in the City of Gloucester. By enabling artists of different disciplines to meet, the hope is to encourage future collaborations. At present the group consists primarily of those working in the visual arts, although the long-term plan is to be all-inclusive. The group has already staged two successful exhibitions at the City Museum and Art Gallery, whose ongoing support has been invaluable. Other successes include involvement in Barton Fair and national Drawing Week, both of which elicited good public response. The latter was made possible by the Barton and Tredworth Development Centre's trust in allowing us to use a vacant shop. Temporary use of 'dead space' is something we intend to pursue for future activities. Our current membership reflects good diversity, boating the expected - fine art painters, sculptors and illustrators - as well as the more unusual - a professional stage design company, female blacksmith and textile artist. A number of the artists can also work electronically (as the professional marketplace demands these days); on the fringes we have contact with installation artists and film makers. We are in negotiation with a local bookstore to start a rolling programme of group exhibitions and workshops. To join the group, be kept informed of forthcoming activities or just make contact send your message to louise_spira@hotmail.com or ring 01452 307384
