Henri Rousseau claimed Painting was a way to 'seek happiness'.

I try to fill my paintings with expressions of colour, energy and movement.

I like to think of my approach to painting as a natural extension from drawing, particularly from charcoal & pastels.

I start by exaggerating the scene and apply paint decisively, loosely and occasionally by accident. I am excited by colour combinations, marks and spontaneity but mostly by creating an image which reflects what I have seen.

I paint using fingers & sticks which create unexpected and powerful results. Images are based locally and around Cornwall.

I am currently working as an art teacher in various prisons around Gloucestershire.
