Sally Williams is a practicing artist who was born in Gloucester, and after travelling and living in Europe and other cities in Britain, returned to Gloucestershire to bring up her children in the beautiful and inspiring county of her birth. A lecturer at Art Colleges for most of her working life, she is still involved in encouraging others to find the joy and passion that can be found from being creative. She is well known for her large watercolour and tempera paintings, with her individual vision and unusual use of colour and texture.Recently a need to work on a bigger scale has inspired her to work on canvas again .A passion for drawing has always been a strong element in both her own work and in her teaching. THE SENSES AND AWARENESS ARE CHALLENGED, AND IN ORDER TO CONVEY TO THE ONLOOKER THE PRIVATE PLACE, MANY LAYERS AND UNDERPAINTING ARE INVOLVED, UNDEFINED, BUT SUGGESTED. A KIND OF LINK EXISTS BETWEEN THE MEDIUM AND THE SPIRIT OF THE PLACE, THE TWO ACTING TOGETHER BUT AGAINST EACH OTHER IN ORDER TO CREATE UNIQUE VISUAL AND CONCEPTUAL EFFECTS. A QUIET EXPLORATORY JOURNEY HAS TAKEN PLACE.
