Gloucester Museums

Archaeologists have been digging things up, over the years people have given their prized possessions; there's a lot more in store than on display and the collections are growing all the time.

Gloucester City Museum and Art Gallery has the bones of prehistoric beasts and things left behind by Ancient British princesses, Roman soldiers, mediaeval musicians and gamblers...but there's still more buried under our feet.

The Roman city wall is part of the museum's foundations; you can see it below floor level in the west side gallery.

Gloucester Folk museum takes up the story from the Civil War to almost now, from musket balls to early Amstrads

Around the Docks the Waterways Museum tells the story of the canals, and the Military Museum charts the exploits of the Glorious Glosters across the globe.
