Roman Sculpture

There is an outstanding collection of Romano-British sculpture in the Gloucester City Museum & Art Gallery. One of the very best in Southern England.

There are the remains of important monuments and buildings. There is evidence of the worship of exotic Gods and mysterious cults. However perhaps most intriguing of all, our sculptures give a glimpse into the lives of individual citizens and soldiers. These ancient people tell us in their own words how they wished to be remembered.
