Still leading the world in jet design, the company then designed the delta-winged interceptor JAVELIN (1949-59). However, in 1957 the Government ceased developing manned fighters and the company began to run down, losing its identity in 1961.

Today a business park occupies the Gloster Aircraft factories and airfield at Brockworth.
