After the war, with the change from wood to metal planes the company moved from Martyn's works to hangars beside a runway at Hucclecote which had been built in 1915 as an Air Board acceptance park. Here it designed many innovative planes such as the GREBE (1923-27) and the record breaking VI SEAPLANE (1928-29). Because the word Gloucestershire was thought to be unpronounceable the company changed its name to the Gloster Aircraft Company. Click here for more resources relating to the Aircraft Industry. |
