Delivering Bells

Transport often caused a problem as the larger bells could weigh anything up to two tons. Gloucester was fortunate in being linked to the canal system. Bells could be cheaply and easily transported by barge or ship. Often the Rudhalls would personally visit the churches for which the bells were to be made. Old bells were transported to Gloucester where they could be melted down, new metal added, and a new peal cast.
