High points of life here:

Fifteen years ago I was made town crier at the Barton Fayre. Ten years ago I became the world's loudest town crier.

With the Gloucester operatic and dramatic society I played the judge in Trial By Jury. I beat some pretty stiff competition, which is not bad going for a working class lad.

It's always a joy to come back to Gloucester, specially when you're coming down over the Cotswolds and you can see the cathedral in the Vale of Gloucester in the mist.

I was responsible for getting the Neighbourhood Watch meetings off the ground in the Tredworth area.
