High point of life here: Being the Mayor of Gloucester in 1996-7 and 2000-1. I'm a person who hates dressing up; certainly in fancy dress parties I'm always the one who comes late and makes an excuse for not wearing fancy dress, but wearing the robes of the city you're immediately plugged into the fact that we've had a mayor now for 528 years and a sheriff for at least 878 and we're aware that Gloucester's got an unbroken history as a city of 2000 years.

Favourite part of the city: The cathedral. Whenever you come over the hills and look down on Gloucester that's the thing you spot. There's so much history there, so much that just speaks Gloucester and, I think, England.
