I was born here in the city and have lived here my whole life. I went to school at Calton Road then Denmark Road and went on to a career in the insurance business.

I have very fond memories of the old parts of Gloucester particularly the cattle market when it used to be where the bus station is now. Gloucester was a nice little country town back then and on market days the whole area used to be busy with farmers meeting and doing business in the local hostelries. My mother came from a farming family in the Cheltenham area so I would often go along on market days as it was an easy way of seeing some of my relations.

I understand that things must change with the times but it seems to me to not always be for the better.

There are many beautiful buildings I remember that are now gone and the character of the city can so easily go with it. We must take care of the city's attractions or people will stop visiting, businesses will close and before long the city could become a ghost town.
